1. Overview

This SMS Privacy Policy explains how The Honest Coconut ("Company," "we," "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects information specifically in connection with our SMS messaging program. This policy supplements our general Privacy Policy and applies to all participants in The Honest Coconut SMS Ordering & Delivery Updates program.

2. Information We Collect Through the SMS Program

In connection with our SMS program, we collect:

  • Mobile phone numbers registered by Client Account administrators through our customer portal

  • SMS opt-in consent records, including the date, time, IP address, and method of opt-in confirmation (Reply 1)

  • Authorized user information provided by Client Account administrators, such as the user's name and the Client Account they represent

  • Message content of SMS messages exchanged between you and The Honest Coconut, including order details, delivery instructions, and replies

  • Message metadata, including timestamps, delivery status, message direction (inbound/outbound), and carrier information

  • Opt-out records, including the date and method of any opt-out request

3. How Mobile Phone Numbers Are Collected

Mobile phone numbers enter our SMS program through a two-step consent process:

Step 1 — Client Account contract. Client Accounts sign a delivery contract with The Honest Coconut that includes explicit SMS consent language authorizing the registration of company-provided or company-authorized mobile phone numbers.

Step 2 — Individual employee opt-in. After an account administrator registers a phone number in our customer portal at https://thehonestcoconut.com, that number receives a welcome SMS and must reply "1" to individually confirm opt-in before becoming active.

4. How We Use SMS Information

We use information collected through the SMS program to:

  • Send transactional SMS messages, including order confirmations, delivery status updates, ETA notifications, and order coordination requests

  • Verify and record individual opt-in consent

  • Process and fulfill orders placed via SMS

  • Provide customer support related to SMS communications

  • Maintain records of consent, opt-in, and opt-out events as required by applicable law and telecommunications regulations

  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or unauthorized use of our SMS service

  • Comply with legal obligations, including responses to subpoenas or other valid legal process

We do not use SMS information for marketing, advertising, or promotional purposes.

5. Information Sharing

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as customer service or SMS delivery providers, is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

We share SMS-related information only with:

  • Our SMS messaging platform provider (e.g., Twilio), which transmits messages on our behalf and is contractually obligated to handle data in accordance with applicable law

  • Mobile carriers, to the extent necessary to deliver messages to registered phone numbers

  • Cloud hosting and infrastructure providers that store our records, subject to confidentiality obligations

  • The Client Account that registered your phone number, to the extent necessary to fulfill orders and coordinate deliveries

  • Law enforcement, courts, or regulators, when required by valid legal process

We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise transfer SMS opt-in data, phone numbers, or message content to third parties for their own marketing or promotional purposes.

6. Message Frequency and Cost

Message frequency varies based on your order activity. The Honest Coconut does not charge for SMS messages. Standard message and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply, depending on your plan.

7. Opt-Out and Help

Opt-out. You may opt out of SMS communications at any time by replying STOP, CANCEL, END, QUIT, UNSUBSCRIBE, STOPALL, OPTOUT, or REVOKE to any message you receive from us. After opting out, you will receive a single confirmation message and no further messages will be sent unless you opt back in.

Opt back in. You may opt back in by replying START, SUBSCRIBE, or APPROVE to any prior message, or by contacting your account administrator to re-register your number.

8. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical, administrative, and organizational measures designed to protect SMS-related information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. No method of transmission over mobile networks or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Data Retention

We retain SMS opt-in consent records, message logs, and opt-out records for as long as necessary to:

  • Operate the SMS program

  • Comply with applicable telecommunications recordkeeping requirements

  • Resolve disputes and enforce our agreements

  • Demonstrate consent if required by regulators or carriers

When SMS information is no longer needed for these purposes, we delete or anonymize it in accordance with our retention practices.

10. Your Rights and Choices

Subject to applicable law, you may:

  • Opt out of SMS communications at any time using the keywords listed in Section 7

  • Request access to information we hold about your participation in the SMS program by contacting hello@thehonestcoconut.com

  • Request correction of inaccurate information

  • Request deletion of your phone number and associated SMS records, subject to record keeping obligations that require us to retain consent and opt-out evidence

  • Contact your Client Account administrator to remove your phone number from the program

Residents of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and other states with applicable consumer privacy laws may have additional rights as described in our general Privacy Policy.

11. Children's Privacy

The SMS program is intended solely for use by authorized representatives of commercial Client Accounts. We do not knowingly collect SMS-related information from anyone under the age of 18. If we become aware that we have collected information from a minor, we will delete that information promptly.

12. Links and Phone Numbers in SMS Messages

Our SMS messages may include links to live delivery tracking pages hosted on thehonestcoconut.com and direct phone numbers for assigned delivery drivers. Tracking links lead only to our own delivery tracking interface; we do not use third-party URL shorteners. Driver phone numbers shown in messages are company-issued or company-authorized numbers used during active deliveries.

When you click a tracking link, we may collect standard web analytics information (such as IP address, device type, and timestamp) in accordance with our general Privacy Policy. When you call a driver phone number, the call is handled outside of the SMS program and is subject to standard mobile carrier terms.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this SMS Privacy Policy periodically. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify Client Account administrators of material changes.
